Keep Your Diamonds Shining Like A Star

Only one fifth of all rough diamonds mined are suitable for
gem cutting.

Most people don't know this but it's not the diamond it
self that makes it sparkle, it's the cut of the diamond. A
master diamond cutter determines the best cut for each
diamond. A cut that makes the best use of light to give the
diamond its twinkle and shine.

The lack of color increased the diamonds valuable. If
there is any hint of color, then the value of the diamond
goes diamond. There is a color exception. Diamonds with
full color like yellow or blue are rare and much more
valuable then white diamonds

Carat weight is self-explanitory. The more the diamond
weights, the more it is worth.

The clarity of diamonds depends on how many scratches or
blemishes it has. Some scratches occur naturally and other
happen when it is mined. In any case, the more
imperfections it has weakens its worth.

A diamond's cut is what really effects it's shine. A poor
cut will ruin it's brilliance and shine no matter how high
the, color, clarity, or carat.

But something else beside a bad cut will diminish a
diamond's sparkle.

Diamonds are the hardest natural substance on earth. Only a
diamond can cut another diamond. Despite diamonds
toughness, the oil from your finger will dull the sparkle
quickly. Diamonds are little grease magnets. Handle your
diamonds sparingly.

It's easier to remove grease than to fix a bad cut.

Cleaning your diamonds is simple. Just soak the diamonds in
an ammonia based cleaner overnight. In the morning remove
your diamonds and wipe off any remaining dirty with a horse
hair brush or soft cloth.

When cleaning your diamonds, take care to clean around the
metal post. Some metals weaken and become fragile after
soaking in cleaner.

Another way to clean your diamonds is to use an ultrasonic
cleaner. This type of cleaner uses sound waves to remove
oil and dirt. Let a professional jewel clean do this. The
sound waves loosen your diamonds.

Your diamonds will continue to sparkle with a regular
cleaning routine.
