How to Perfect the Art of Gift Giving

So many people get really stressed out when they have to
buy gifts. They start running around like headless
chickens at the last minute rather than taking time out
and being organized. If you are prepared and have all the
information to hand this can help you to give exhilarating
and imaginative gifts. Follow these simple steps and
you~ll end up giving people far better gifts than you
could have ever imagined.

The first thing to do is to set up your calendar. By
placing birthdays and other special occasions in their
appropriate slots ahead of time (such as at the beginning
of each new year), and consulting it on a regular basis,
there won~t be the need for rushing and going into a panic
over the sudden realization of an impending gift-giving
event. It~s critical, of course, that you make a habit of
checking your calendar entries at the beginning of each
month, and again at the beginning of each new week, in
order to give your memory a jog. It~s easy to forget or
overlook an occasion when the other events in our lives
demand attention.

As soon as you have achieved this calendar organization
you need to think long and hard about any of these dates
that require presents that need to be purchased well in
advance. For instance do you have to get them from a
catalogue or order them from a specialist store? It~s all
very well and good wanting to buy someone a trip or
tickets to see their favorite band or sports team but if
you leave it too late you could be out of luck. Some
tickets will have to be bought well in advance to have any
hope of getting this ideal gift for someone.

3. Consider personalizing a gift. This doesn~t just mean
get something engraved with the recipients name or special
date. It can be as simple as spending time buying a gift
that can be used for their favorite leisure activity or
listening to someone~s future aspirations and buying a
gift that will help it to become a reality. You will often
find that the receivers of such gifts will really love
what you have bought as its show you have put serious
thought and consideration into the gift. A few ideas for
you are new books for book worms; tickets for someone to
watch their favorite sports team; an antique vase with an
arrangement of fresh flowers in for an antiques lover;
some surprise dance lessons by means of a gift certificate
for someone who has always dreamed of perfecting their
dancing skills. We could go on and on but gift
certificates are a particularly good idea as you can get
them for pretty much any hobby or pursuit that the
recipient may have expressed a desire to achieve.

4. A few more tips for you. Firstly, you want to make
their day as special as possible and to make your gift
have a lasting effect. Therefore buy them something that
they would never dream of purchasing themselves, not just
something sensible you know they could do with. Secondly
if you are wandering around the mall and come across
something that would make a brilliant gift for someone buy
it there and then. You make think you will find something
far more suitable but you rest assured you won~t! Thirdly
be artistic and creative in your gift wrapping ~ it should
be as inspiring as what is inside. Finally, above all
else, be there to give them the present personally. Don~t
double book yourself and book the whole day out of your
diary to be with them. Other things and other people will
just have to fit in elsewhere on your calendar.

It~s not a lot to remember but if you get all of these
things in place buying gifts will become so much more
pleasurable and easy to accomplish when that next date
looms.
