Long distance phone service is offered by many companies.

several days to activate your service. Your service will
only be activated on the one particular line and not on any
of your cell phones. Once the service is activated, you
can make direct long distance calls from only that phone
line.

card. Calling cards work from any touch tone phone and
require that you dial an access number and authorization
code (PIN) to use their service.
The most reliable long distance service is the switched
service which is generally the service on your home or
business phone. This service uses a different technology
for establishing a connection to your destination number
but the service is usually a little higher than those of
calling cards.
A Third Party Verification (TPV) is required when signing
up online. By dialing the number shown on the form, the
TPV will record your voice granting permission to switch
your long distance provider. This will act as an
electronic signature for your long distance agreement.
Three to four business day s is all it takes to activate
your new long distance service. This usually varies
depending on who your local phone company is. Sometimes,
you will be issued a 700 number to dial to check the status
of your activation.
After your line is activated, you can start dialing your
long distance calls directly. Your local phone service will
not change. However, you will start to receive a separate
bill for your new long distance service provider.
A toll free number is normally recommended for businesses.
The person who dials the toll free numbers does not pay for
the cost of the call. The cost for the call is charged to
the party that receives the call. These are usually used
by businesses to allow their customers to reach them at no
charge.

services offer, you can make your choice according to the
purpose for which you will need to make long distance calls.
